Trivandrum is a coastal city connected to other regions of
the State and Country by Air, Rail and Road.
Trivandrum
Airport (International) is linked by flights to Cochin, Madras, Delhi,
Goa and Bombay. International flights operate to and from Colombo,
Mali, Dubai, Abudhabi and Kuwait.
Thiruvananthapuram's
main railway station is the Central station located at 'Thampanoor'.
It is a major railway junction
of the Southern Railway. There are excellent Mail and Express train
services operating to almost all major centres of the country.
Thampanoor
is the main bus terminal in Thiruvananthapuram. All long distance
buses leave from here. The city bus terminal is situated at Fort
from where most of the city service originates. State and National
Highways connect Thiruvananthapuram to all major Indian cities.
Kerala
State Transport operates a comprehensive service from Thiruvananthapuram,
throughout the state and to Tamil Nadu. Buses operate regularly
to destinations along the coast including Kollam,
Allapuzha, Ernakulam and Thrissur..
Regular buses ply to Kanyakumari. There are buses daily
to Thekkady (to Periyar Wild life sanctuary).
Most
of the bus service to Tamil Nadu are operated by Tamil Nadu State
Buses. It has services to Chennai ,
Madurai,, Pondicherry, Coimbatore as well as
Nagercoil and Erode.
Surface Transport - Vehicles
Luxury, Semi-luxury coaches and tourist
taxis can be hired. Taxes of other States, Toll Tax, Parking Fees,
Airport Entry Fee, Ferry Charges, etc., will be charged extra depending
on the service opted for.
Taxis
Tourist taxis are also available throughout Kerala. Yellow-top
taxis are also available.
Self
drive / Chauffeur driven car rental
The facility of renting
a car with or without chauffeur for intra or inter city drive is
available.
Autorickshaws
Available at selected stands in the major towns.
Local
Bus Services
These are operated by Kerala Transport Corporation
and Private Operators at regular intervals, connecting most places
in Kerala.
